Stella B. Russell of Buffalo, a retired sales clerk for Dexter Drug Store on Jefferson Avenue, died Sunday in Williamsville View Manor after a long illness. She was 81.

Born Stella White in Georgetown, Ky., one of 11 children, she attended high school there and moved to Buffalo in 1947. She was a clerk for Dexter Drug Store for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of White Rock Missionary Baptist Church and its Missionary Society. She enjoyed cooking and playing cards.

Her husband of 38 years, Robert, died in 1981.

Surviving are a son, Russell Clay Jackson of Buffalo; a sister, Mattie Bell of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Richard Collins of Georgetown; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in White Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 480 E. Utica St., after viewing at 10. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, West Seneca.
