MAN ENTERS GUILTY PLEA IN BREAK-IN, KAYAK THEFT

A man who broke into a North Tonawanda garage and paddled away on the Erie Canal in a stole kayak pleaded guilty Tuesday in Niagara County Court.

Curtis N. Dubke, 20, of 14th Street, North Tonawanda, is to be sentenced on a reduced charge of attempted third-degree burglary Jan. 19 by Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza.

Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Antholzner said the incident occurred July 6 at a garage on Bond Street near the waterfront. She said the property owner saw Dubke in the kayak on the canal.
