Edward T. Bluff, Jr. of Amherst, an insurance agent, died Sunday in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. He was 68.
Born and raised in Buffalo, he moved to Amherst around 1975 and lived there the rest of his life.
A graduate of Erie County Technical Institute, Mr. Bluff served in the Air Wing of the Marine Corps Reserve and was a member and past commander of the Buffalo Power Squadron. He also was a member of the Buffalo Launch Club and enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
An agent with State Farm Insurance since 1965, he operated an agency on Main Street in Amherst.
Mr. Bluff is survived by his wife of 12 years, the former Jean M. Abbe; five sons, Edward T. III and Brian J., both of Clinton, Daniel M. and Kevin M., both of Angola, and Timothy M. of Lake View; a stepson, David Way of Silver Springs, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Diana Akers of Vergennes, Ill; three brothers, Robert of Wheatfield, Thomas of Amherst and Gerald of Rochester; four sisters, Violet Havlik of Wheatfield, Nancy Able of Allentown, Pa., Virginia of Lancaster and Mary Rynkowski of Phillipsburg, N.J,; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main Street, Eggertsville. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
