A man and a woman were arrested Monday afternoon after detectives and a parole officer visited their home and allegedly found crack cocaine where six young children had easy access to it.
Capt. Larry Eggert arrested Allen W. Sheldon, 28, and Laura B. Yeates, 29, both of West Avenue, charging both with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
Eggert said that while detectives accompanied a parole officer to assist her in a visit with a parolee, they found an off-white substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine.
Five of the six children in the home were under the age of 6, said Eggert.
He arrested Sheldon and Yeates at Police Headquarters. They were arraigned Monday night in City Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail apiece. They are scheduled to appear in City Court on Wednesday.
