BURGLARY SUSPECT HELD FOLLOWING POLICE CHASE

A Niagara Falls man was caught by a deputy after a chase Sunday morning after he allegedly stole some orange juice from the C Store at River and Williams roads.

Robert A. Alexander, 57, of Fairfield Avenue, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny, resisting arrest and trespassing.

Deputy Scott Milleville spotted a man who matched the description of the suspect running on Williams Road toward the LaSalle Expressway on-ramp, said Deputy Bruce Elliott.

Milleville chased the man in his patrol car and on foot, after the suspect hopped over a fence and ran into the Frontier Avenue neighborhood.

Milleville caught the man in the parking lot of Vince Morello Apartments, 95th Street and Frontier Avenue, Elliott said.

Alexander also wore three leather jackets with tags and security devices still attached to them from Sears, Elliott said.

Both Alexander and Milleville were treated in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, for multiple cuts and gouges to their hands after they scaled the fence and were released, said Elliott.

Alexander was held in lieu of $1,000 bail Monday in the Niagara County Jail.
