Virgilia "Virge" Colosi, a hospital volunteer, died Saturday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. She was 85.
Born Virgilia Palumbo in Niagara Falls, she graduated from Niagara Falls High School and from Laselle Junior College in Auburndale, Mass. She was employed for a few years as a legal secretary with the office of Moore, Killian and Knowles in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Colosi was a tennis player and a member of the Niagara Falls Country Club. She volunteered as a "gray lady" in Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Her first husband, A. Russell Leone, died in 1977 after 35 years of marriage. Her second husband, Paul J., died in 2002, after 19 years of marriage.
Survivors include a son, Anthony R. Leone of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Carol A. Leone of Lewiston and Nancy S. Hawley of Phoenix; a brother, Dr. Frank J. Palumbo of Lewiston; a sister, Joyce Mirrington of Niagara Falls; three stepsons, Paul Jr. of Rochester, Joseph of Youngstown and Robert of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 620 Center St., following prayers at 9:30 in Rhoney Funeral Home, Cayuga and South Ninth streets. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
