A 28-year-old man, armed with a loaded shotgun, barricaded himself inside his car Saturday morning and told 911 dispatchers he intended to harm himself, the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department reports. The man later surrendered without incident.
Police did not release the man's identity but said he suffered "mental health" issues.
The incident began at about 6:40 a.m. when the man called 911, refused to identify himself, but told a dispatcher he was parked in a field just off the intersection of Werner and Jillson roads.
Sgt. Michael Quinn responded to the scene and talked to the man until he surrendered about 20 minutes later.
The man was taken to Wyoming County Community Hospital for evaluation and treatment for minor head and face injuries suffered in an unrelated incident.
