CANADA TAKES GOLD IN WOMEN'S HOCKEY

Dana Antal took a pass from Danielle Goyette across the net and scored the winning goal as Canada defeated the United States, 2-1, for the gold medal in the Four Nations Cup international women's hockey tournament in Lake Placid.

Charline Labonte, Canada's third-string goalie, made 37 saves for her first win against the USA.

Canada got its go-ahead goal early in the third period, when Antal shot the puck past goalie Pam Dreyer.

The 2002 gold medalists opened the scoring with a power-play goal from Jayna Hefford from the side of the net at 7:56. USA answered just before the end of the first period on a power-play goal when Natalie Darwitz slipped the puck past Labonte.
