A Ridgeway woman already serving a two-year sentence for her role in an Orleans County home invasion drew six months in jail Friday for taking part in the theft of all-terrain vehicles from a Royalton dealership.
Mechelle Lawless, 32, of Countyline Road, pleaded guilty here to attempted third-degree burglary. Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza said she will be on probation for 4 1/2 years after she finishes her jail time.
Lawless and her boyfriend, Paul D. Rutherford Jr., 32, of Countyline Road, along with Nathan R. Stanley, 24, of Ridge Road, Hartland, stole two ATVs from Buck's Motorsports on Royalton Center Road on Sept. 21, 2003. Stanley and Rutherford are awaiting sentencing for third-degree burglary.
In the Orleans County case, Lawless drove Rutherford and Stanley to a home on Shelby Basin Road on Oct. 2, 2003. The men tied a 70-year-old woman's hands behind her back and stole $20,000 in cash and several guns.
Rutherford is awaiting sentencing in that case for first-degree burglary; last month, Stanley drew seven years and Lawless two years for attempted robbery.
