Hakim Warrick scored 20 points and Syracuse held Princeton to five free throws over the final 8:41 in a 56-45 victory Friday night in the second round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
No. 6 Syracuse (2-0) advanced to the semifinals Thursday at Madison Square Garden.
"We wasted a lot of time in practice over the last two weeks playing man-to-man," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. "Against Princeton, we looked like we never practiced it. We felt all along we would play some zone but felt we could get by a little longer than we did."
Will Venable led the Tigers (1-1) with 17 points and six rebounds and Judson Wallace had 11 points.
Demetris Nichols had 14 points and Terrence Roberts added eight points and six rebounds for the Orange.

North Carolina point guard Raymond Felton has been suspended one game for playing in an uncertified summer league game. Felton, a junior, will miss the fourth-ranked Tar Heels' opener against Santa Clara.
