ALICE V. HINZ, RETIRED REGISTERED NURSE
OCT. 17, 1930 -- NOV. 11, 2004

Alice Virginia Hinz of Williamsville, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday at home after a long illness. She was 74.

Born and raised in Portage, she moved to the Buffalo area in 1952 to attend the University of Buffalo, where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing.

From 1960 to 1990, she lived in Williamsville. From 1990 until about two years ago, she split time between Williamsville and Hunt in Livingston County before moving back to Williamsville.

Miss Hinz worked as a registered nurse at the Erie County Medical Center for 30 years. For 26 of those years, she was the charge nurse in the operating room. After retiring in 1986, she joined ECMC's Nurse's Alumni Association.

She enjoyed gardening, walking in the woods, bird watching and refinishing furniture.

Miss Hinz is survived by two sisters, Lois Parker of Fillmore and Linda Burns of Hunt; and three brothers, Norman of Williamsville, Roger of Fillmore and Leslie of Rock Glen.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Mann Funeral Home, 44 State St., Nunda. Interment will be in Hunt's Hollow Cemetery, Hunt.
