TWO CHARGED IN THEFT OF DONATION BOXES

Two Welland, Ont., men were charged with seven criminal counts in connection with the theft of Remembrance Day poppy boxes at small businesses in Welland, Niagara Regional Police reported.

Jason Giroux, 30, and Shannon Laszlo, 22, were arrested and released, pending a Nov. 24 court appearance.

Police said Giroux and Laszlo teamed up to distract the staff of the Welland businesses last week and steal donation boxes for Canadian veterans.

Giroux was charged with seven counts of theft under $5,000, and Laszlo was charged with seven counts of possession of stolen property.
