It's not surprising that the $1 billion school construction project has fallen below its goal to hire minority construction workers. This huge project is designed to improve the physical well-being of our schools. We need to improve the vocational well-being of our students as well.
Perhaps our state and local school officials will finally realize why there is a greater need to provide vocational programs that can properly train minority young people to tackle such jobs. There is definitely a need.
