EX-AIDE GETS PROBATION IN MOLESTATION CASE

Derwin Watson, a former case aide at the Baker Victory Services home for the developmentally disabled in Lackawanna, has been placed on probation for the next six years for molesting an 18-year-old female resident of the facility, court officials said Wednesday.

Watson, 47, of Louisiana Street, who was fired after another resident reported the Aug. 9, 2003, incident to staff members, was sentenced by Lackawanna City Judge Frederic J. Marrano, who found him guilty Aug. 6 of sexual misconduct after a nonjury trial in which the victim identified Watson.

During the brief trial, Watson testified that he had only given the girl candy, as he had all other residents with whom he worked at the facility.
