IRENE M. LEPSCH,
WWII ARMY NURSE
FEB. 4, 1920 -- NOV. 7, 2004

Irene Marie Lepsch, a former military nurse, died Sunday in St. Francis Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was 84.

Born Irene Swift in Buffalo, she enlisted as an Army WAC during World War II, serving as a nurse and a medical technician. She was discharged in 1947 with the rank of private after serving for four years.

She was a machine operator at Fedders Corp. and a nurse at Kenmore Mercy Hospital for about 10 years before retiring in the early 1970s.

Mrs. Lepsch was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and performed with the USO. She sang in her church choir.

Her husband, Raymond J., dies in 1986.

Surviving are a son, David M. of Amherst, and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
