Helen Madeline Joseph, 90, who was active in her church and several civic organizations, died Thursday at Schoellkopf Health Care Center after a long illness.
The former Helen Hammam attended local schools.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church, the Golden Agers, the Cedars of Lebanon Auxiliary, the Altar and Rosary Society at Our Lady of Lebanon, the Happy Time Grandmothers, the Riverside Rebekah Lodge 195, the Niagara Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, the Golden Age Knitting Club of Wrobel Towers and Wrobel Towers tenants organization. She was an Extra Ordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Our Lady of Lebanon.
Her husband, James J. Joseph, died Jan. 11, 1965.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Birmingham of Suffield, Conn.; four sons, James of Williamsburg, Va., Jerome of Potomac, Md., Jeffrey of Niagara Falls and Joe of Detroit; a brother, Elias Hammam of Laquinta, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at noon today in Our Lady of Lebanonn Church, 1120 Niagara St. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
