BURGLAR WHO ASSAULTED RESIDENT SENT TO PRISON

A Buffalo man was sentenced Friday to 22 years to life in prison for burglarizing a Wecker Street home last year.

Anthony Evans, 38, of Manhart Street, was convicted July 14 of burglary for the forced entry and theft of a $20 bill.

At the request of prosecutor Brian K. Parker, State Supreme Court Justice Ronald H. Tills sentenced Evans as a persistent felon for the home invasion on Oct. 20, 2003.

Parker said Evans beat up the 76-year-old male occupant of the residence.

Evans was convicted of burglary in 1987 and robbery in 1992, court officials said.
