Geraldine B. Smith, a retired bank teller, died Saturday in her Buffalo home after a brief illness. She was 69.
Born Geraldine Bingley in Gastonia, N.C., she moved to this area as a child and attended Buffalo Public Schools.
Mrs. Smith worked downtown as a teller for Marine Midland Bank, retiring in the 1970s.
A parishioner at SS. Columba & Brigid Catholic Church, she was a member of its women's group. She enjoyed walking, gardening, entertaining and traveling.
Survivors, all of Buffalo, include three daughters, Gwendolyn Grimes, Valerie Washington and Cassandra "Gay Gay" Washington; four sons, Timothy Washington, Jesse "Billy," Gerald and Brian; a sister, Johnnie Mae Bingley; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry St.
