The University at Buffalo's lightweight four women's crew posted a first-place finish in the Head of the Fish Regatta over the weekend in Saratoga. UB topped all collegiate entries with 116.5 points. The Bulls had three second-place finishes and a third.

Coxswain Abbie Potts (Hamburg), Katie Barnum, Karen Corey, Jessica Barrell (Nardin) and Ginelle Michael made up UB's winning lightweight four.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Ashley Andrews scored 25 points and took down 10 rebounds as Erie Community College opened its season with an 86-71 loss to Onondaga CC.

CROSS COUNTRY: Stacey Zinck finished seventh overall in 27:44 and Katy Dorsheimer (Frontier) recorded an 11th-place finish in 28:20 for Hilbert in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships over a 6K course in Frostburg, Md. Senior Andy Kozak (St. Francis), Hilbert's lone competitor in the men's race, finished 28th in 33:28 over the 8K distance. Penn State-Behrend won the women's team title, while host Frostburg State won the men's competition.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Penn State-Altoona won all three games from Hilbert in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship match. Nicolette Newton (Forestville) had four kills and six digs, and Lynn Workman (Newfane) had 16 digs for the Hawks.
