Jane W. Schuler of Cheektowaga, a retired nurse, died Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after a lengthy illness. She was 69.
Born Jane Hamilton in Smethport, Pa., she had been living in the Buffalo area since 1953. She was a 1956 graduate of Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Schuler worked at Buffalo General Hospital, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, King Manor Nursing Home and for the American Red Cross. She retired in 1995.
Mrs. Schuler had been a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Cheektowaga Travel Club and the Cheektowaga Couples Club. She was a life member of the Alumnae Association of Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing.
She enjoyed sewing, bowling and dancing.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas of Cheektowaga; a daughter, Ann Marie Duquin of Grand Island; two brothers, Robert Hamilton of Alden and John Hamilton of Wilmington, Del.; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 180 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga, after prayers at 9 in Melvin J. Sliwinski Funeral Home, 85 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
