Irene R. Paluch, a former employee of Carborundum Co. and the Niagara County Department of Social Services, died Sunday in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was 78.
Miss Paluch was born in Niagara Falls and lived there until about 10 years ago, when she moved to Lockport. She attended Niagara Falls schools and earned a teaching degree in history from Niagara University.
She worked several years as a production worker at Carborundum in Niagara Falls before working from 1978 to 1989 in the Social Services office in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Szymanski of Barefoot Bay, Fla.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1419 Falls St., Niagara Falls, after prayers at 11:30 in Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
