A 17-year-old Buffalo boy killed Friday was one of four victims Friday night and early Saturday in various shootings on the city's East Side.

The first shots rang out on Sattler Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. Ambulance crews and detectives from the Buffalo Police Major Crimes Unit responded.

Police were not releasing the name of the victim, a 14-year-old boy, due to his age, but they said he was in good condition Saturday night in Erie County Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his chest.

A little more than an hour after the first shooting Friday night, police were called to 648 E. Utica St., where Carl Smith, 17, of Winslow Avenue, was shot dead. Another victim, Michael Boyd, was shot in the buttocks at the same address. Boyd was treated at an area hospital and released.

The fourth shooting victim, Edward Haynes, 38, was riding a bicycle when he was shot in the leg at the corner of Genesee and Wilson streets at about 1 a.m. Saturday. Haynes was treated and released from Buffalo General Hospital.
