Helen E. Smith of Buffalo, a retired shirt press operator, died Wednesday in St. Francis Nursing Home in Williamsville after a short illness. She was 82.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, she lived in Detroit before moving to Buffalo in 1971. Mrs. Smith worked as a shirt press operator for many years before her retirement in 1987.
A member of the Order of the Eastern Star in her younger years, she loved to cook, especially spaghetti, and enjoyed sitting by the water.
Her husband, Lorraine Bonaparte, died in 1963. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Mims of Buffalo; two sisters, Edith Waddell and Betty Smith, both of Buffalo; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday in United Memorial Funeral Home, 3272 Bailey Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
