Six volunteer fire companies in Erie and Chautauqua counties will receive grants totaling nearly $475,000 under the federal Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program, Rep. Jack F. Quinn Jr., R-Hamburg, has announced.
The funds will be used for training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, protective gear and improvements to fire stations and other facilities. Receiving grants are:
Boston Volunteer Fire Department, $159,309; Elma Fire Company, $86,920; Hy-View Fire District No. 8, $46,701; Lawtons Volunteer Fire Company, $32,400; Lily Dale Volunteer Fire Co., $73,913; and Wales Center Volunteer Fire Company, $75,060.
