AROUND TOWN <br> PUBLIC MEETINGS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES THIS WEEK

Alden

The Town Board will meet Monday, 7:30 p.m., in Town Hall, 3311 Wende Road.

Also this week:

* The School Board will meet Thursday, 7:30 p.m., in Alden Primary School, 11197 Broadway.

Amherst

Amherst Town Board members will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. to consider a proposed moratorium on new construction in the Harlem-Kensington-Cleveland business area.

Also this week:

* The Amherst Conservation Advisory Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in council chambers.

* The Amherst Traffic Safety Board will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.

* Amherst Parks and Playgrounds Committee will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.

Aurora

The East Aurora Village Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday on NOCO's proposed expansion of its store at Main Street and Park Place. The board also will hold a hearing on a 90-day moratorium proposed for drive-through businesses and the demolition of buildings or homes on Main Street that are more than 50 years old. The hearings are part of the board's regular meeting, held in Village Hall at Main and Paine streets.

* The Aurora Town Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in a work session at Town Hall, 5 S. Grove St.

Boston

The Town Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday for an agenda review session, with the regular Town Board meeting following at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Both meetings will be in Town Hall, 8500 Boston State Road.

Buffalo

Buffalo's Joint School Construction Board will meet at 3 p.m. Monday in Room 209 at City Hall.

* Common Council members will hold a caucus at 2 p.m. Monday in Room 1417 in City Hall.

* The Common Council will hold its regular meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers, on the 13th floor of City Hall.

* The Commission on Citizens' Rights and Community Relations will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Room 1316B at City Hall.

* The Buffalo Board of Education will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 801 at City Hall.

* Buffalo Police Commissioner Rocco J. Diina will meet with Common Council members to talk about violent crime at 9 a.m. Thursday in Room 1417 at City Hall.

* The Buffalo Arts Commission will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in Room 1417 at City Hall.

Cheektowaga

The Town Board is expected to adopt the town budget and appoint a new assessor at Monday night's meeting in the council chambers in Town Hall, Broadway and Union Road. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with a public hearing on the annual grant for the federal Community Development Block Grant funds and HOME programs.

* The Cheektowaga-Sloan School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, 166 Halstead Ave.

* The Cleveland Hill School Board will conduct a work session at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the faculty cafeteria, 105 Mapleview Road.

* The Conservation Advisory Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the council conference room in Town Hall.

Clarence

The Town Board will hold a work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the board conference room, Town Hall at One Town Place, Clarence.

Elma

The Town Board will meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall, 1600 Bowen Road. There will be a public hearing on the proposed 2005 budget.

Evans

The Town Board will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall, 8787 Erie Road, Angola.

Grand Island

The Town Board will hold a work session at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Road. A regular business meeting will follow at 8.

Hamburg

The Town Board will hold a public hearing on its preliminary budget at 7 p.m. Monday in Town Hall.

* The Hamburg Village Board will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, following a 5:30 p.m. work session.

* The Blasdell Village Board will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Village Hall following a 6 p.m. work session.

* The Frontier Central Board of Education will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Cloverbank Elementary School cafeteria, 2761 Cloverbank Road.

Lackawanna

The Lackawanna City Council will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers, City Hall, 714 Ridge Road. A caucus begins at 6:30.

* The Lackawanna Planning and Development Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers, City Hall, 714 Ridge Road.

Orchard Park

The Town Board will meet Wednesday in the Municipal Center, 4295 South Buffalo St., with a work session in upstairs meeting room at 6 p.m. and regular session in the courtroom at 7 p.m.

* The Conservation Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the second-floor conference room of the Municipal Center.

Town of Tonawanda

The Town Board will hold a work session at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave., Kenmore. Regular business meeting will be held at 7 and a public hearing for the proposed 2005 budget at 8 in council chambers.
