VW TO TRIM OUTPUT IN MEXICO

German auto maker Volkswagen AG said Friday it will shut down production at its Mexican plant for the month of November to reduce inventories and reconfigure the facility for new models.

Volkswagen has called a series of work halts at its Puebla plant in recent years to adjust to weak demand for its models in the U.S., the main market for Mexican-built cars.

The company shipped 137,182 vehicles out of Mexico during the first nine months of the year, a 24 percent drop versus the same period of 2003.
