Charles R. McGill, who was involved in a marijuana supply operation, was placed on five years' probation Friday by Niagara County Judge Peter L. Broderick Sr.
McGill, 26, of Youngstown-Lockport Road, Porter, had pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of marijuana. He was driving a sport utility vehicle that county Drug Task Force agents stopped in Pendleton July 2, 2003. Agents said they seized 18.7 pounds of marijuana and some hallucinogenic mushrooms.
McGill has agreed to testify against the passenger, Andrew S. Renaud, 24, of Callan Drive, Lewiston, against whom charges are still pending. Renaud's brother, Brian, 25, is serving one to three years in prison for possession of 31 pounds of marijuana, packaged for sale, which police found when they raided the brothers' home the same day the SUV was stopped.
