A memorial service for Stanley H. Brown of Buffalo was held today in First Shiloh Baptist Church, 15 Pine St.
Mr. Brown, a retired employee of Rich Products, died Sunday in Erie County Medical Center's Skilled Nursing Facility. He was 83.
Born in Portsmouth, Va., Mr. Brown moved to Buffalo as a child. He was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School, where he played on the basketball team that won 39 consecutive games during the late 1930s.
He also played baseball in a traveling league and was a member of the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame.
Mr. Brown worked as a truck driver for Rich Products, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include a son, Brian K. of Buffalo; two sisters, Dorothy M. Owens of Rochester and Virginia Randolph of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Carlson of Virginia Beach, Va.; and three grandchildren.
