The Drug Enforcement Administration, with the help of two local police agencies, confiscated about half a kilogram of cocaine and seized roughly $60,000 in a major drug bust Thursday evening on East Morris Avenue.

Detectives with both the Buffalo and State Police narcotics squads helped the DEA in capturing two suspects, one of whom was caught after authorities said his rental car was spotted and he led officers on a brief chase.

Arrested were Jerry McLamore, 38, of Atlanta, and Che Harden, 35, of Zenner Street, DEA officials said. Both were expected to be charged today with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, a federal felony.

Just before executing a search warrant at 148 E. Morris Ave., agents arrested McLamore around the corner. But they couldn't locate Harden or the rental car both men were using. Buffalo police issued an attempt-to-locate alert on the vehicle, which was spotted in the rear of a Roebling Avenue address.

Harden went to the car, took off and led police on a chase before crashing the car into a fence at Bailey Avenue and Scheu Park, DEA officials said. They said he fled on foot with the drugs before Ferry-Fillmore and Northeast District police caught him.
