DAVID H. PHILLIPS, DAIRY FARMER <br> JAN. 6, 1937 -- OCT. 27, 2004

David H. Phillips, a former dairy farmer, died unexpectedly Wednesday in his Hinsdale home. He was 67.

Born in Collins Center, he was a graduate of Springville-Griffith Institute High School, where he was a standout basketball player. He served in Naval Reserve.

Mr. Phillips was a dairy farmer for many years in Collins Center and Otto. He later worked as a truck driver, driving tractor-trailers in the Northeast, before retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed all kinds of sports.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, the former Marjorie M. Bierman; two sons, James of Bishop, Ga., and Mark of Gambrills, Md.; two daughters, Susan Brinks of Olean and Mary Spaulding of Ellicottville; a sister, Marjorie Spencer of Collins Center; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 6360 Route 242 East, Ellicottville. Burial will be in Collins Center Cemetery.
