RITA L. WAZNY, MADE AFGHANS FOR CHILDREN <br> JAN. 5, 1931 -- OCT. 26, 2004

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita L. Wazny, who donated hundreds of handmade afghans to children, will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4928 Seneca St., West Seneca. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.

Mrs. Wazny, of West Seneca, died Tuesday in Mercy Hospital. She was 73.

Born Rita Wasielewski in Buffalo, she was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Mrs. Wazny enjoyed crocheting and shared the blankets she made with many people. She crocheted hundreds of afghans for babies at Women and Children's Hospital.

Her family said she was a loving grandmother.

Her husband, Joseph Sr., died in 1990. She also had survived a son, Joseph Jr., and a brother, Raymond Wasielewski.

Survivors include a son, David of West Seneca, and two grandchildren.
