A memorial service for Glenn Alan Coles Sr., a former Buffalo resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Resurrection Lutheran Church, 3 Doat St.
Mr. Coles died unexpectedly Oct. 8 in his home in Houston after a brief illness. He was 55.
He moved to Houston in 1997 and worked as a certified heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technician.
A graduate of Bennett High School and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute, he became one of the Buffalo Niagara region's youngest licensed home improvement contractors at age 21, when he started Glen-Co Construction.
He later worked for the Buffalo Board of Education as a security guard at various schools, including Kensington High School, Woodlawn Junior High School and Riverside High School.
During the 1980s, Mr. Coles worked as a manager and bartender at several area nightspots, including Freedom Train, Cotton Club and Jerry Butler's.
He is survived by a son, Glenn A. "DJ Kholes" Jr. of Buffalo; two brothers, Alvin B. of Pittsburgh and Robert A. of Buffalo; and two sisters, the Rev. Dr. Bettie A. of Buffalo and Paulette Alexis Gallagher of Sante Fe, N.M.
