A city man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a chase when a city police officer said she saw a van with switched license plates.
Officer Kathy A. Stack said that as she tried to pull over a van driven by Anthony Roundtree, 37, of Ashland Avenue, he led her on a chase through alleys at high speed.
She lost sight of the van, Stack said, and Officer James Reynolds later found it unoccupied in the alley between 23rd and 24th streets.
Stack said she located the suspect in the 700 block of 19th Street and arrested him without incident.
Roundtree was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, reckless driving, two counts of illegal signal, speeding, driving without insurance and inspection, unsafe tires, failure to yield, and improper license plates.
Bail was set at $1,650.
