UB EDGES CORNELL

Arielle Korczykowski (Lake Shore) scored the winning goal, giving her two tallies and an assist in the last three games, as the University at Buffalo (7-11-1) edged visiting Cornell, 2-1, in a non-conference game. Junior Natalia Crofut (Iroquois) tied the game for UB in the 31st minute, then assisted on Korczykowski's goal in the 53rd minute. Korczykowski has closed the season with a hot streak after sitting out seven games with an injury.

UB is awaiting the outcome of Thursday's Bowling Green-Toledo game. If the game ends in a tie the Bulls will earn the eighth seed in the Mid-American Conference tournament. Otherwise, it will go to the winner of Thursday's game.

Elsewhere, Hilbert (6-9-1) finished its schedule with a 3-0 win over Wells College. Shannon Bieniek (West Seneca West), Rosanne Gawronski (West Seneca West) and Kristina DiSano scored for the winners. . . . Ashley Payne had a pair of goals and Kim Walker (Grand Island) scored her school-record 16th goal in Daemen's 4-1 win over Notre Dame (Ohio) in an American Mideast Conference game.

MEN'S SOCCER: Tim Jordan (Frontier) scored three goals and assisted on two others and Jacob Opala (West Seneca West) had two goals and three assists in Hilbert's 8-0 win over D'Youville. Dan Russell (Iroquois) had two goals and two assists and Pat Kane (West Seneca West) tallied a goal and an assist for the Hawks. Goalkeeper Tim Wieder (Lake Shore) had six saves for the shutout.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Sam Damstetter (West Seneca East) had nine kills and nine digs as Buffalo State (6-24) lost in three games to RIT. . . . Heather Martin (Allegany-Limestone), Fredonia's all-time kills leader, had 15 in her final home game as the Blue Devils lost to Nazareth, 3-1, after winning the opening game. . . . Nichole Kuslik (Sweet Home) had 17 kills and Kristie Martzolf produced 57 assists as Daemen (22-13, 13-2 American Mideast Conference) defeated Roberts Wesleyan, 3-2, winning the fifth game, 15-8.
