Robert P. Hess of Buffalo, a retired steelworker, died Oct. 4 in his home after a brief illness. He was 64.
Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Boys Vocational High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for 15 years at Republic Steel Corp. until his retirement in 1980.
"He loved the holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween -- he decorated his house from top to bottom," recalled his sister Joyce of West Seneca. "He enjoyed doing card and magic tricks and could talk to you for hours about famous magicians."
Mr. Hess is also survived by another sister, Betty Spencer of the Town of Tonawanda, and a brother, Vance of Hamburg.
Services were private.
