SEX ED: Parents, students and educators will talk about the importance of sex education from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Buffalo Common Council Chambers in City Hall in a program "Sex is Everywhere! Let's Talk" sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Buffalo and Erie County, Partners Linking to Address Adolescent Needs and AIDS Community Services. Organizers cite statistics about teen pregnancy (1,000 teenage girls in the City of Buffalo become pregnant every year) in stressing the importance of thorough sex education about pregnancy prevention rather than "abstinence-only" approach.

OPEN HOUSE: The Park School of Buffalo, 4625 Harlem Road, Snyder, will hold an open house at 9 a.m. Nov. 4. The school offers prekindergarten through high school. An entrance exam will be offered at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 6. Reservations can be made for the exam by calling 839-1242, Ext. 107.

AUDITIONS: Two child actors are needed to play Tiny Tim and a young boy in Alleyway Theatre's "A Christmas Carol" to be staged Dec. 16-21. The role of Tiny Tim calls for a boy between 5 and 7 years old. The role of the young boy calls for an actor between 11 and 14 years old, no taller than 5-feet, 1-inch. Rehearsals begin in late November and will be held evenings and weekends. Child actors are called for an open audition on Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. Contact Production Manager Todd Nibbe at 852-2600 Ext. 205 to register.

BUFFALO SCHOOL CHOICE: Buffalo schools have applications ready for comprehensive high schools of choice. Eighth-graders may get applications from their school counselors. Students in grades 9 to 11 may contact the school placement office in Room 717 of City Hall for an application. Elementary schools of choice applications will be ready Nov. 3 and may be picked up from the student placement and magnet office or any Buffalo public elementary school.
