If the implications weren't so serious, it would be laughable. In response to Democrats referring to military reports from Iraq that our troops lack adequate armor and fully functioning equipment, President Bush is criticizing them for being "headline grabbers." Let me see if I've got this right. Reading the newspaper and learning what is actually going on in the world is a bad thing?
At a time when the free press is under attack -- reporters are being sent to jail for not revealing confidential sources and partisan corporate interests are using the public airways to broadcast campaign propaganda as news -- this put-down of the public's right to know the facts is truly frightening.
