Rose Gerace Sell, formerly of Dunkirk, died Sunday evening in TLC/HN-Nursing Facility in Hanover. She was 93.
Born Rose Gerace in Brant, she was an employee of Vineyard Restaurant in Dunkirk and Van Raalte Corp.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dunkirk, where she was a Eucharistic minister and was involved with the Holy Trinity Guild and Holy Trinity Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Dunkirk Senior Citizens Center, a life member of Charles Tinley Post 142, Disabled American Veterans, and the Kosciuszko Polish Home.
Mrs. Sell volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years and many other Dunkirk organizations. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crafts and traveling. She called a trip to Italy, where she met and shook hands with Pope John Paul II, one of the most memorable events in her life.
She was the widow of Salvatore Castiglia and Alfred Sell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum of Holy Trinity Cemetery.
