Aloysius Hansom, English architect and inventor, was born. He registered his Patent Safety Cab, a one-horse, two-wheeled enclosed cab with the driver seated above and behind the passengers, in 1834. It became known as the Hansom Cab. . . .

A CRAFT FAIR sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Armor Volunteer Fire Company will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Armor Fire Hall, 4932 Clark St., Hamburg.

Jeanne C. Corby, who is in charge of publicity for the event, said there will be "a large variety of handmade items, including Christmas decorations, made by local crafters." Refreshments will be available. . . .

HAM DINNERS will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Elma Social Hall, 2945 Bowen Road.

Ann Pettit, publicity chairwoman, said the dinners will cost $7 for adults and $5 for children. Those under 5 eat free. . . .

A CRAFT SHOW and baked goods sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at Father Justin Council 5670, Knights of Columbus, 2735 Union Road, Cheektowaga.

PRIZE-WINNING SAUCE will be used in the serving of spaghetti dinners from 3 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 930 Lake St., Angola.

The meal will cost $6.50 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for children 5 to 12. Kids under 5 eat free. . . .
