GOWANDA MAN KILLED IN CATTARAUGUS CRASH
TOWN OF PERSIA -- A 70-year-old Gowanda man was killed Sunday afternoon when his car left a Cattaraugus County road, traveled through a field and struck a utility pole, Cattaraugus County sheriff's officials reported.
Leo W. Blatner, of Point Peter Road, was taken to Tri-County Hospital, Gowanda, where he was pronounced dead.
Sheriff's deputies said Blatner was eastbound on Skinner Hollow Road in the Town of Persia at about 3:45 p.m., when his car left the north side of the road.
PROBATION VIOLATOR ADDED TO WANTED LIST
MAYVILLE -- One name has been added to Chautauqua County's Most Wanted List, and two have been removed.
Added this week is Loren Billquist, 51, no address given, who is wanted by the Sheriff's Department for allegedly violating probation on a felony driving while intoxicated warrant.
Two people who appeared on the Most Wanted List were picked up recently.
Demetrick Welch, 25, of Newport, Ky., was wanted by the Sheriff's Department for violating probation on a burglary charge. Welch was picked up on a separate violation of probation in Kentucky. He was sentenced in that state and was held for a period of time. Arrangements are being made for him to be brought in on the charges in Chautauqua County.
On Sunday, Wilfredo Torres Jr., 18, of Jamestown, was picked up by deputies at his home. Torres was wanted for violating probation on a burglary charge.
Torres was sent to the county jail until he is arraigned in County Court. Jamestown police also hold a warrant for Torres, and it will be held as a detainer.
