Slade's Ferry Bank president and CEO Mary Lynn D. Lenz was named one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking by the national publication "US Banker." The Kenmore native is a former senior vice president at Key Bank in Buffalo. Lenz attended Niagara University and Buffalo State College and is a 1994 graduate of Leadership Buffalo.<

The law firm of Hodgson Russ named Thomas E. Popek an associate in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group in the Buffalo office. A graduate of the University at Buffalo, Popek previously served as a consulting engineer to Fortune 500 companies.

The Better Business Bureau honored Evans National Bank with the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics recently in recognition of its commitment to customer service and satisfaction and determination to use ethical practices. The bank has nine branches in Erie and Chautauqua counties with a tenth branch scheduled to open in North Buffalo in late 2004.

Quinlan and Company, an advertising, marketing and web services firm in Amherst, was recognized by the National Association of Investors Corporation as a National Winner in the 2004 Nicholson Awards competition in recognition of the 2003 annual report they produced for IDEX Corporation. The report, along with a complete listing of all winners in the competition, will be featured in the January 2005 issue of "Better Investing" magazine.

The Dyna-Purge Division of Shuman Plastics, Buffalo, will open warehouse operations in Salt Lake City, Utah in November to serve 12 western states. The company says the expansion will lower freight costs and enhance service for customers in these western state for its line of thermoplastic purging compounds. The company also has warehouse facilities in Buffalo, Houston, and Niagara Falls, Ontario.
