HELEN K. KRESTIC, ELEMENTARY TEACHER <br> JUNE 11, 1911 -- OCT. 23, 2004

Helen K. Krestic, a longtime elementary teacher in the Cheektowaga Central School District, died Saturday in Lakeshore Hospital, Irving. She was 93.

Born Helen Kelsey in Elma, she was a graduate of East Aurora High School. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Buffalo State College.

She retired in 1970 from the Cheektowaga Central School District, where she taught for about 20 years in Pine Hill, Alexander and Union East schools.

An avid bridge player, she was a member of Silver Chapter 288 Order of Eastern Star and Shakespeare Club of Silver Creek.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, John; a brother, George Maw of Arcade; a daughter, Karen Ackerman of Berkeley, Calif.; a son, John M. of Silver Creek; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.
