Edward E. Abbey, a retired salesman, died unexpectedly Saturday in his Akron home. He was 84.
Born in Lancaster, he served in the Army as a private first class during World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
An Akron resident for the past 19 years, Mr. Abbey retired from Schuele Co. after 30 years as a paint salesman. He later went on to work for Benjamin Moore Paint Co. out of Cleveland for 4 1/2 years.
He was a member of Kensington Post 708, American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Marion S. Steamer, and a sister, Ruth Sleeper of East Aurora.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Warsaw Cemetery.
