SUV, TOOLS DESTROYED IN LOCKPORT GARAGE FIRE

A brand new sport utility vehicle and about $50,000 worth of tools were destroyed in a Sunday afternoon fire that consumed an Upper Mountain Road garage, sheriff's deputies said.

The resident at 5485 Upper Mountain Road dialed 911 at 4:42 p.m. to report that his garage was on fire, Deputy Craig Beiter said. By the time crews from the South Lockport Fire Company arrived on the scene, the garage was fully engulfed.

Destroyed along with the garage was a 2005 Dodge Durango and a large quantity of tools, Beiter and Deputy James Voutour said. Fire investigators are still attempting to determine the cause of the fire.

The Cambria and Rapids volunteer fire companies assisted in fighting the blaze, which resulted in no injuries.
