The Alden School Board has filled its vacant vice president position, unanimously appointing first-term board member Amy Schandt to the position.
Schandt will replace David Chauncey, who left Alden last month to take a job in the Rochester area. A part-time nurse and homemaker, Schandt has just begun the third year of her five-year term. Schandt said she's looking forward to developing district goals with the rest of the board and school administration. "I'm enthusiastic about (being vice president)," she said. "It's a great opportunity."
The School Board will continue to operate with a six-member board until the May elections, leaving Chauncey's seat vacant. Alden will have three open seats during the election and budget vote in May, as the five-year terms of current members Kaye Swallow and Steven Hartman will expire as well.
