Services were held Friday for former Girl Scout leader Kathryn M. "Kay" Rogers, of Cheektowaga. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
She died unexpectedly last Monday while visiting her daughter in California. She was 77.
Born Kathryn Dirnberger in South Buffalo, she lived in the Buffalo area all her life.
Mrs. Rogers graduated in 1944 from South Park High School, where she was a track star and honor student, and graduated from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute a year later.
She was a homemaker, as well as a secretary for Buffalo Business from 1944 to 1948. She was a store clerk at Bestaste Foods in Cheektowaga from 1968 to 1992, when she retired.
She was a Girl Scout and served as a Girl Scout leader from 1943 to 1967. She also was a member of the board of directors of the Buffalo Women's Bowling Association. She enjoyed square-dancing, bridge, watching softball and baby-sitting her great-grandson, Jack.
Her husband, Earl W., died June 17.
Survivors include a son, Joseph of Williamsville; two daughters, Terry Ann of San Mateo, Calif., and Patricia M. Meyer of Cheektowaga; two grandchildren; and her great-grandson.
