HELEN S. MORRIS, PSYCHIATRIC CENTER NURSE <br> NOV. 19, 1920 -- OCT. 22, 2004

Helen S. Morris, a Gowanda resident and former Gowanda Psychiatric Center nurse, died Friday in The Waters of Eden nursing home after a long illness. She was 83.

A native of the Town of Persia in Cattaraugus County, the former Helen Sheldon worked as a registered nurse at Gowanda Psychiatric Center for 35 years.

She graduated from Frewsburg High School and was trained as nurse in Buffalo.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 409, American Legion, and enjoyed reading and working puzzles.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Charles; two daughters, Dorothy M. Hager and Jean Hager, both of Gowanda; a brother, Vincent Sheldon of Frewsburg; a sister, Barbara Caswell of Erie, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hills Funeral Home, 255 Aldrich St., Gowanda. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Town of Dayton.
