AMERKS STAY WINLESS AFTER CINCY SHOOTOUT

Michael Holmqvist scored the deciding goal in the overtime shootout to give the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks a 2-1 victory over the Rochester Americans in Cincinnati.

Chris Taylor had the lone goal for Rochester, which remained winless at 0-2-2-0. Town of Tonawanda native Tom Askey had 28 saves in the loss.

Kurtis Foster scored a power-play goal in the first period for Cincinnati, which improved its record to 4-1-0-0, the second best start in franchise history. Ilya Bryzgalov raised his record to 4-0-0 with 38 saves for the Ducks, including five stops in overtime.

In junior hockey, Sidney Crosby regained the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League scoring lead with a four-point game in the Rimouski Oceanic's 6-5 loss to the Shawinigan Cataractes. Crosby scored two power-play goals and added two assists. He has nine goals and 23 assists for 32 points in 13 games, two more points than Stanislav Lascek of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
