A private memorial service was held for John J. Kiebzak Jr., the retired owner of a contracting company, who died last Sunday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bay Pines, Fla., after a six-month illness. He was 80.
Born in Buffalo, he moved to Florida in 1996. He was the owner of T.K. Excavating and Sewer Contracting of Depew.
An Army veteran of World War II in the 464th Military Police Escort Guard, Mr. Kiebzak served in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
He was a 37-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 17, West Seneca, and a member of AMVETS and the American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Ostrander of Largo, Fla.; two sons, John A. of Largo and John J. III of Darien; three brothers, Walter and Frank, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Steve of Cleveland, Tenn.; two sisters, Beatrice Syroczynski of Kenmore and Estelle Sarafin of the Town of Tonawanda; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Bay Pines National Cemetery on the VA grounds.
