Private services will be held at a later date for Joann Hoffman, who died Oct. 4 in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Hoffman, 65, of Franklinville, was born in Buffalo and lived in the area her entire life. She received a graduate equivalency degree from Erie Community College.
Mrs. Hoffman worked at the Collage Pharmacy for 15 years as a pharmacist's assistant, 10 years as salad bar manager at Albertson's and five years in the meat department at a Tops supermarket. She retired in 1999.
Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the National Rifle Association. She enjoyed hunting, camping, craftmaking, playing video games and scrapbooking.
Her husband, Francis Carite, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, William Schonwalder of Franklinville; her stepmother, Dorothy Clark of West Seneca; two sisters, Patricia Wells of Amherst and Ginny Reed of Las Vegas; and three brothers, Richard of Buffalo, Francis Jr. of Kenmore and Edward of Las Vegas.
